White Trillium

This is a White Trillium, a beautiful wildflower that is part of the lily family, I believe.

They were just starting to bloom at the lower elevations of the Smokies during our trip.

Beutiful! The species looks like being family of the "Eenbes" (Dutch name) which has a small green flower in the middle of not three, but four leaves. I don't know the English name See pictures under Google, pictures, "eenbes" and/or go to www.knnv.nl/twenthe/eenbes.jpg.

Jen, about the horse with the special hair-do: it's the work of horse-addicted girls who spend hours to pampering and cuddle their loved animals. They used to do it (when I was a child) with puppets, now their parents can afford real horses and ponies. They are also real horse-whisperers: a 16-year old girl can do more with them than an experienced 45-year old male.

Very beautifully done. Do you shoot your macro photos freehand? Or do you use a monopod/tripod?

@Mike Cash: Mostly freehand...I have a tripod, but I move around alot when shooting and alot of times there is nowhere to really put it that would help me with the shot.
